How to take down and pack away a Bestway Pool

When the season ends and you don't want to leave your pool up through the colder months, it's time to take down your Bestway above-ground pool.

With only a few simple steps, you can drain, clean, and store it to keep it in excellent condition for next summer.

1. Drain the pool

Turn off and disconnect the pump and heater, if you have one, and empty the water. You can either let the water drain directly from the valve or connect a hose to channel it to a specific area. Be sure to direct the draining water away from your house and any areas that could be damaged by water. This will leave around 3 inches of water in the pool - just the right amount for the next steps.

2. Clean the pool

Clean the inside and outside of the pool while the pool is still in its frame. You should rinse the inside of the liner with a hose or tap water to remove any leftover chemicals, dirt, or debris. If there are any stains or marks, scrub these off with a sponge and soapy water.

3. Disassemble the frame or deflate the top ring

For Bestway steel frame pools, such as the Steel Pro® or Steel Pro MAX™, carefully remove the legs and frame from the liner. For inflatable ring pools, like Fast Set™, deflate the top ring by squeezing the safety inflation valve and pressing down to push out the air.

4. Drain the remaining water

Once the frame is removed or the ring is deflated, you lift the liner to drain away any remaining water. This video shows how to do this on a large pool liner with two people

5. Allow the liner to dry

Lay the liner as flat as possible, with the inside facing up, so it can dry completely in the sun. After drying, give the liner a once-over with a cloth to make sure there’s no remaining dirt or debris and use a towel on any parts that are still wet.

6. Fold the dry liner

Start folding inwards from the outer edges, gently removing any dirt from the underside. Fold loosely to prevent the material from cracking during storage.

Pro Tip: To prevent the liner material from sticking to itself, sprinkle a bit of talcum powder over it before folding.

7. Store in a cool, dry place

Pack your pool parts back into the original Bestway box, and store them in a cool, dry place until it’s pool season again. Aim to store it in a space where the temperature remains between 5ºC and 37ºC, which will help keep the materials in good condition.

8. Packing down the pool filter

Disconnect all the fittings of your filter and remove the filter cartridge, sand or Polysphere filtration balls. Make sure everything is clean and dry, then store in similar conditions to your pool.

With these easy steps, your Bestway pool will be safely packed up and ready for many more summers of fun ahead!
