Pool pump not working efficiently

If your Bestway pool filter pump is not working efficiently, either poor circulation or low water flow, here are a few steps to run through.

1. Check your filter cartridge

A dirty or worn-out filter can prevent proper water flow. Take the filter out and inspect it. If it looks dirty, give it a clean. If it shows sings of being worn out, replace it with a new one.

2. Empty the strainer basket

Check to see if there’s any debris caught in the inlet and outlet strainers and the strainer basket. Remove these parts from your filter pump, empty the basket and rinse them thoroughly with your garden hose to ensure all debris is gone.

Cleaning your strainer basket should be part of your weekly routine to ensure proper water flow.

3. Check for a blockage in the pipes (hoses)

If there is something stuck inside the hoses that connect to your pool, disconnect the hose completely. Try and backwash the dirt out using a hosepipe. If that does not work, get a large container filled with bleach & water and soak the hose for at least 30 mins, then backweash and rinse.

4. Inspect for leaks

If there’s any water leaking from the hoses or connection valves, investigate to find out what is causing the leak. Do a full inspection of your filter pump and all the individual parts.
