Award-winning and world record-breaking endurance athlete Glyn Marston, once a prolific marathon runner who completed over 100 marathons around the world, has been taking on some incredible swimming challenges to raise money for charity.
Back in 2022, Glyn started using his Swimfinity Swim Training Machine in his (13ft) Bestway swimming pool to train for his relay swim across the English Channel, raising money for Mencap. The counter current from the Swimfinity was perfect for Glyn to spend hours training from the comfort of home.
"I am in training for the relay swim across the English Channel and needed something like an infinity pool to boost my training, but with a price tag of £11,000 to £44,000, I couldn’t afford one. Bestway have given me an endless pool for a very affordable price.."
Next challenge for Glyn is to swim from the notorious Alcatraz Island to the shores of San Fransico, raising money for Battersea Dogs' Home. This isn’t just any swim; it’s a demanding open water journey across approximately 1.5 miles (around 2.4 km) of cold, unpredictable San Fransico Bay waters. And, to add to this, Glyn had a full knee replacement in December 2024.
